Cable in the Classroom

Cable in the Classroom is a $420 million public service effort supported by 38 national cable networks and over 8,500 local cable companies. These networks and local cable companies act as a partner in learning with teachers and parents by providing a free cable connection and over 540 hours per month of commercial-free educational programming to schools across the country. This site includes links to curriculum resources on the WWW.

California Instructional Technology Clearinghouse

This web site is an educator's guide to instructional technology resources that support California's curriculum frameworks and standards. A key portion of this site is the Online Evaluations Database which is a continuously updated database of information on all types of instructional technology resouces. Each of the listed programs has been rated as Exemplary or Desirable by the California Instructional Technology Clearinghouse and has been found to be effective, technically excellent, and appropriate for use in a California classroom. The database has sophisticated, simple-to-use search capabilities designed to help the educational user make informed instructional technology resources choices.  Every Clearinghouse evaluation is conducted by one of the Clearinghouse's 19 Evaluation Satellites, each specializing in a particular subject area. Each of these Satellites is operated by a California county office of education and is supported by the California Technology Assistance Project.

Classroom Connect is an Internet site for education-related resources, products, information and support. This site includes: G.R.A.D.E.S.--a hand-picked selection of quality education-related Internet Web sites; the Resource Station--Internet-enhanced Lesson Plans; information on Internet projects; and the The Teacher Contact Database provides the ability to identify colleagues who are interested in the use of the Internet in the classroom.

The California Technology Assistance Project (CTAP) is a statewide educational technology leadership initiative, providing assistance to schools and districts in integrating technology into teaching and learning.
CyberFair Contest

The International Schools CyberFair competition, now in its fourth year, has been described as the largest event of its kind ever held on the Internet. The program has brought together more than 500,000 students from 52 counties. Acting as "student ambassadors," schoolchildren share their stories with other students around the globe. School-generated web sites in eight different categories are evaluated by the students themselves, using a unique web tool developed by Global SchoolNet.
